Foreword

　 Mr. Liu Yushan, an outstanding artist in his nliddle ages, is the editor - in - chief of China People's Fine Arts Publishing House and a member of the Chinese Artists Association in Ohina. He was graduated from the Department of Printed Paintings of China Centrual Academy of Fine Arts.

　 Although he is very busy with his work, Mr. Liu still finds time to devote himself to the creation of ink paintings. He has held his one- man show in China, United States, Canada in recent years, which have achieved good results. In order to deeply understand life and to draw inspirations from the great nature, he made many trips to the remote areas such as Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region and Tibetan highland and is very impressed with the local herdsmen's life and the magnificence of the landscapes. He uses his plain and easy artistic language to depict his strong feelings towards the objective reality and to let out his creation passion. The works in this book represent the painter's creative achievements during the past few years. They also mark a new milestone in the painter's artistic career.
